Austin Ziprick is a multi-award-winning film & video editor for scripted narrative features, series, and short films. He is obsessed with meticulous organization and workflow, calculated molding of tone and emotion, the juxtaposition of dramatic tension and release, and amplifying every collaboration to its maximum storytelling potential.
Austin found a love for editing as a teenager while making product videos for collectable LEGO sets he was reselling on eBay as a side business. That passion would continue to grow and later open opportunities to work professionally in the Los Angeles film industry. Now with over 10 years of post-production experience, Austin has served in every role from assistant to senior Editor and even Post-Producer, overseeing and mentoring other junior editors.

Workflow Process
Austin focuses on careful organization, categorization, and assessment of creative assets to ensure that no stone is left unturned in finding and pairing those perfect moments to tell unforgettable stories.
Every project begins with a timeline stringout of all media assets (audio and video), which is then duplicated and synchronized together. 
The synced timeline is then duplicated again and A selects pass is performed where clips are grouped and labeled by their slated shot designation, color-coded and ranked for their individual merits and value to the overall story, and re-sequenced for chronological progression in the script. If applicable, basic color correction may be administered at this time as well.
Occasionally, a 2nd pass might be performed on the selects timeline (after being duplicated again) where non-preferred takes are removed and the remaining selects are arranged in a sort of "Pre-Rough Cut." 
A rough cut is then finished (usually without music, sound design, or final color) and shared with the director for feedback. Upon receiving all notes (via Vimeo review link), a polished first cut is then completed and returned for approval or further refinement. 
When in-person sessions are not possible or practical, Live Remote Sessions via video conferencing are available.

While the goal is to minimize revisions as much as possible, when notes are inevitably needed, this system is designed to be highly resilient and efficient in quickly accommodating those creative needs.
A render of the master selects timeline with a metadata burn-in is typically provided along with the first rough cut to provide clients with the maximum possible insight into our available creative options and facilitate pinpoint feedback for highly specific note implementation.
